Overview
Overview
Over the course of the past Fall, I worked as a UX Designer for Inara. Being the only UX Designer at Inara, I lead the product design process conducting heuristic evaluation, concept design, problem definition, ideation, prototyping, and usability testing for the new website for Inara. Here is the link to their website.
What is Inara?
Inara brings authors a new framework for engaging readers and getting paid for every page stream of their e-books. Inara lowers the bar for readers to discover the ebooks they want to read without having to buy books or subscribe to a service.

Discovery
Problem
Inara was on the verge of launching the beta version of their e-book reader web and mobile app. They wanted to create a website that will enlighten potential users about the features of the new app and act as a gateway for people to sign up for it.
How might we help authors and readers learn about the features of the new Inara app and seamlessly sign up for it?

Heuristic Evaluation
I performed heuristic evaluation on the current Inara website to understand its usability issues.
Consistency and standards
The previous website needs better consistency of colors, fonts, imagery and needs to be updated to Inara design guidelines.

Aesthetic and minimalist design
The content on the website needs to be arranged into byte sized pieces for users to better understand the features and advantages of the Inara application
Solution
Here are a few key insights on the home page of the website that I have designed.
The primary purpose of the website is to get readers and authors to sign up for the beta version of the app. Placing Call to action buttons at strategic locations help guide users towards the conversion goal.
Easy item verification for staff
The University staff can easily verify the items posted and received, track the status, and update their inventory at the click of a button.
User journey
Inara is an innovative app based on Web 3.0 framework. It is important to explain to potential users in simple steps how to setup the app.

Takeaways
Collaborating third party consultancies
With the development consulting team spread all across the globe, I learned how to balance work and asynchronous collaboration between teams

Upskilling
Inara being an innovative first of its kind product where users pay as they read, I had to upskill my knowledge on the concept of Web 3.0, cryptocurrencies as well as streaming micropayment services.
Functioning as the only designer in the org
Being the inly designer in the organization, I wore many hats. I learnt how to lead the product design process , set up timelines, coordinate with consultants to resolve their queries and deliver a successful product.
